“Remember, Remember the fifth of November, gunpowder treason & plot. I see no reason, why gunpowder treason, should ever be forgot!”
Hey Stylists! I love this time of year, don’t you… wrapping up extra cosy to go to a bonfire, munching on toffee apples, warming up the custard to go with homemade parkin and watching fireworks light up the sky! 🎇 However, now it’s November, those chilly evenings are truly setting in so it’s a must to pull out your winter wardrobe favourites.
I’ve chosen my winter staple items for Bonfire Night to help you prepare for the evening or other outdoor events over the coming months….
Boots & Cosy Socks
One simply cannot go to a bonfire without the right kinda boots, you’re just asking for trouble (resulting in grass stained converse). I usually go for a flat, leather-look, long boot… but I can’t wear my boot’s without some cosy, knee high socks! I find these type of socks make a boot,(especially new ones), super comfy.. plus they will keep your toes toasty warm ( or atleast until the bonfire is lit!).
I am particularly lovin’ these boots as they look sturdy enough to handle those muddy fields and these slouchy knee highs are a lush autumnal colour.
As much as I love a blanket cape I personally don’t feel wrapped up quite enough, so a good thick winter coat is one of my go to’s for bonfire night. Keep it open (if your dare) to show off your chunky knit and remember to layer up with a chunky scarf!
There are two styles you can adopt for bonfire night…
The Stylish and Snug: Go for a long line coat with a wool-blend to keep you warm and give you a chic appearance -OR –
The Casual and Comfy: Check out this hooded parka that would look awesome teamed with a jumper, jeans & boots.
- Forever 21 Double-Breasted Wool Blend Coat – £48.00
- New Look Khaki Faux Fur Trim Hooded Parka – £49.99
Jumpers are a staple MUST for me in Autumn/Winter. I just love to layer up with an extra chunky one for bonfire night. My trick is to wear a thin, long sleeved top underneath too, for added warmth. Embrace the gorgeous colours that on trend this season, such as: Mustard, Khaki, Burgundy & Burnt Orange… swoon!!
I couldn’t resist these two jumpers as they screamed, “WE’RE SOOOO COSY” at me! Anything that is oversized is a win in my eyes, plus the funnel neck & wide sleeves are bang on trend right now. The khaki chunky knit is just what you need for a chilly night this week, it would go perfectly under a big winter coat!
- Topshop Textured Oversized Cocoon Funnel Neck Jumper – £42.00
- Missguided Cosy Chunky Knitted Jumper Khaki – £25.00
Now a night out in the chilly November air wouldn’t be complete without a cosy scarf or collar. I find if my neck is bare I will feel the cold more and you don’t want to stand shivering do you (even though you do look on point!) …so don’t worry, it will only accentuate you’re outfit!
Whether you’re feeling the faux fur where this collar will make you feel like a superstar OR you’re more into a traditional neck warmer, like this gorgeous yellow scarf, it can be so much fun choosing what accessories to complete your ensemble with!
Lastly I will add that another bonfire night staple of mine is a pair of Cosy Leggings. You can’t go wrong with these Black Cosy Leggings from Primark… and for only a fiver!
So remember Stylists, you can look Snug but Stylish as Steph, our Well Being Motivator also said. Layering up with these staple trends means you can enjoy the bonfire & fireworks safe in the knowledge you will be cosy & warm! 😊
